Applications : rac‑trans‑4‑Hydroxy glyburide is an active oxidative metabolite of Glyburide formed by CYP2C8 and CYP2C9. It binds SUR1/Kir6.2 with high potency, inhibiting Glyburide binding to rat brain synaptosomes at high‑affinity (IC₅₀ = 0.95 nM) and low‑affinity (IC₅₀ = 100 nM) sites. Its activity highlights its relevance in studies of KATP channel pharmacology and sulfonylurea metabolism.
