Applications : 5-Methoxy-6-hydroxytryptamine is a metabolite of Melatonin and an intermediate for the synthesis of 6-Hydroxymelatonin, which protects against oxidative stress induced by cyanide in rat brain homogenates. It was examined the ability of 6-Hydroxymelatonin to scavenge KCN-induced superoxide anion generation as well as lipid peroxidation.
