Applications : 9-Carboxymethoxymethylguanine (CMMG) is a metabolite of Acyclovir formed by sequential oxidation reactions by alcoholdehydrogenase and aldehyde dehydrogenase. Acyclovir is a synthetic nucleoside analog of guanosine, a potent antiviral agent which is used to treat infections caused by herpes viruses, such as genital herpes, cold sores, shingles, and chicken pox.
