Applications : Flupirtine is a CNS‑penetrant non‑opioid analgesic that activates Kv7 channels, antagonizes NMDA receptors, and enhances GABAergic signaling. It strengthens BBB integrity, reduces oxidative and inflammatory stress, promotes vascular‑neuronal recovery, and suppresses pathological calcium influx. These actions stabilize neuronal excitability and protect against excitotoxic, ischemic, and cytokine‑mediated injury. Flupirtine’s unique mechanism, independent of opioid receptors, supports its use in models of pain, ischemia, and neurodegenerative disease.
