Applications : Ifenprodil tartrate is a noncompetitive NMDA receptor antagonist with marked preference for NR2B‑containing receptors (IC₅₀ = 0.34 µM) relative to NR2A (IC₅₀ = 146 µM). It also blocks α₁‑adrenergic receptors and inhibits GIRK (Kir3) channels, reducing basal inward currents. Alongside its neuroprotective, anticonvulsant, and antinociceptive actions, Ifenprodil tartrate inhibits A/H1N1 replication (EC₅₀= 6.6 µM). It is widely used in studies of cerebrovascular dysfunction and peripheral arterial obliterative disease.
