Applications : This is a phosphorylated form of the lincosamide antibiotic Lincomycin, which affects protein, RNA, and DNA synthesis in the mycelium of the lincomycin-producing organism, Act. Roseolus. Lincomycin mainly inhibits protein production in Gram-positive bacteria and also has some effect on Gram-negative bacteria. It acts by attaching to the 50S subunit of bacterial ribosomes, interfering with aminoacyl-tRNA binding and disrupting the transpeptidation process.
