Applications : Lincomycin hydrochloride is the salt form of the antibiotic lincomycin. This compound influences the synthesis of proteins, RNA, and DNA within the mycelium of the lincomycin-producing organism, Act. Roseolus. Lincomycin inhibits protein synthesis primarily in Gram-positive bacteria, but also, to a lesser extent, in Gram-negative bacteria. It works by binding to the 50S subunit of bacterial ribosomes, affecting aminoacyl-tRNA binding and disrupting the transpeptidation reaction.
