Applications : Valganciclovir is a valine ester of Ganciclovir, a potent antiviral drug used for the treatment of cytomegalovirus retinitis in HIV-infected patients. It is rapidly metabolized to Ganciclovir by hydrolysis before entering the systemic circulation resulting in improved absorption of the drug.
