Applications : This is an impurity of Vigabatrin, which is a vinyl derivative of the inhibitory neurotransmitter GABA, that functions as an orally active and irreversible inhibitor of GABA transaminase. As an antiepileptic agent, Vigabatrin increases GABA concentrations in the brain by inhibiting its catabolism through GABA transaminase inhibition.
