Applications : This is a geometrical (Z)-isomer of Doxepin, which is a tricyclic antidepressant and antihistamine marketed as an 85:15 mixture of (E)- and (Z)-isomers, with the (Z)-isomer being more effective, having a roughly 5.2-fold higher affinity for histamine H1 receptors than the (E)-isomer. Doxepin works by inhibiting the reuptake of serotonin and norepinephrine. Doxepin has demonstrated therapeutic benefits in conditions such as atopic dermatitis and chronic urticaria and can enhance cognitive processes while protecting the central nervous system. Additionally, Doxepin has been suggested as a protective factor against oxidative stress.
